The Hybrid Server plan comes with Dual-Core CPU! This makes it possible to achieve high performance that surpasses that of a dedicated server. Customers can enjoy a memory capacity of up to 8 GB including the swap space. A large disk capacity of up to 250 GB is also available. For storage, it comes equipped with a dedicated controller and RAID-6 to achieve stable, and yet, high-speed operation of data. Virtualization Technology Provided by Xen

Point Red's Hybrid Server and Virtual Private Server (VPS) are integrated with a virtual technology "Xen", that is based on the concept of paravirtualization. Xen is an open source software program that achieves virtual technologies of computers. Software programs with a function like Xen's are usually called "Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM)" and are employed to use a single computer system as if it is divided into multiple computer systems. Since Xen does not emulate the CPUs, it has higher performance capability than VMware and Virtual PC. What is most appealing about this technology is that there is very little deterioration in performance even when many guest operating systems are executed simultaneously. As a side note, the name, "Xen" comes from a prefix, "xeno" which derived from a Greek word "xenos".
